Anne Marie Frank was born in 1929 to parents Otto and Edith Frank. She has an older sister, Margot, who is three years old at the time. Frankfurt, Germany was their home. The family seemed to have very happy years living in Frankfurt. Poor economics and political problems in the country are arising, as Hitler’s anti-Semitic party increases. According to Hitler, Jews were the problem. On January 30, 1933, the worst of the worst happens. Adolf Hitler becomes the head of the government. Otto Frank describes the moment he heard the news as being stunned when over the radio he heard Hitler say “just give me four years”. ("Anne frank," 2010.) Little did the world know the immensity of what one person could do in that time.
Frankfurt becomes too dangerous for the Frank family, and Otto sets out to Amsterdam to set up a business there. Once the business is running, the family completely moves to Amsterdam. Anne was only four years old at the time. They are finally safe for a while until World War Two breaks out. In May of 1940, Germany invades the Netherlands, bringing danger to the Frank family. ("Anne frank," 2010.)
